Prison. Researching politics and creating queer community through music.
The center of my art and research practice is music. I am working on the possibility of researching thorugh music, where playing together opens up a possibility to understand different experiences in a non-verbal way and explore other realities. My idea is inspired by sonic-narration writing, formulated as a method by XY and YX. I am particulary interested in exploring politics and practicing alternatives or resistance in the context of Eastern Europe. On the other hand I am interested in the process of music as an art practice. Music can create a community and a safer space for expressing different emotions. I am focused on prioritizing woman and queer identified people and develop tools to strengthen their agency and visibility in alternative music. Aesthetically I draw from traditional singing of Eastern Europe. Different songs had not only symbolical or ritual power but the potential to practice the communty and create that kind of space for expression. Secondly, I am fascinated by contemporary goth and dark pun scene, that is open towards different gender expressions and often based on open-source delf made gear. My project therefore is based on playing music with different partners as a research method, animating alternative music scene focused on woman and queers as an art practice and building sound instalations that would help create a safer and inclusive spaces for woman and queers.
